Co-Founders of Hive and Honey: Summer Rose and Chrissy Ivie
In the fall of 2010, Chrissy and Summer met by chance. Chrissy, who was a make-up artist was asked last minute to come in do a special customer’s makeup for her wedding rehearsal dinner. The woman who sat before her that fateful day was Summer. The two fell into conversation quickly and touched on Summer’s career as a Personal Trainer. Chrissy had always wanted to go to a personal trainer but felt uncomfortable, overwhelmed and unsure in the gym. Chrissy decided to face her fears and book a session with Summer. After a few private sessions, it became clear the two were going to be fast friends and the rest, as they say, is history.
Summer affectionately calls Chrissy her “Yes Friend.” Want to run a half marathon even though we aren’t runners? Yes! Want to go on a trip with me and a bunch of people you don’t know? Yes! Want to help me go through my closet and freshen up my wardrobe? Yes! Want to start a business together during a pandemic? Yes! Few people are lucky enough to find a friend who not only brings out your best qualities but also has unwavering faith in one another. Through many different life and career changes, their bond continues to strengthen.
A shared work ethic, commitment to healthy communication and a shared sense of humor gave way to our unplanned business baby, Hive + Honey! Our hope is that Hive + Honey will serve as a place you enjoy coming to feel good, both emotionally and physically. We are so excited to have you join in this community!

Studio Support
I joined Hive + Honey as a client from the very beginning, over 4 years ago. When the opportunity arose to join the team in a vital role as Studio Support, there was no hesitation. I’m confident in the energy, passion, and the deep understanding of H + H’s core values that I bring to my role. I am so grateful to be part of this team!

Group Fitness
I love working out daily and have been taking Pilates for 10 years. Before I had my daughter, I was an instructor at The Bar Method in San Francisco. I didn't realize how much I missed being a fitness instructor until I started teaching Bounce + Sculpt at The Hive!

Pilates
I’ve been teaching Pilates for a few years and group reformer classes for over a year now. I started practicing Pilates over 7 years ago and was hooked so I got my certification to teach.

I was born and raised in Texas and have called Austin home for the last 16 years. I started my yoga journey when I was pregnant with my first over 8 years ago. I love teaching at H+H because of the energy and positivity the clients bring, it feels like home. You can expect a fun playlist and an upbeat flow during one of my classes.

Chrissy
Studio Owner
I've always dreamed of being a store owner. Having 20+ years in the Sales industry, when Summer approached me with the idea to open a studio with a shop in the front, I was in! While I don't teach classes, you can likely find me chatting with clients, sipping coffee, running the behind the scenes business tasks, and shopping the latest curated finds for The Hive.

Pilates
I am a certified BASI instructor and have been teaching since 2007. I enjoy challenging my clients from beginning to end! Once a studio owner in California, I feel so lucky to have found H+H here in Austin!

Pilates
As a long time, overly enthusiastic Pilates student, becoming a Pilates instructor allowed me to spend more time doing what I love (feet in straps, creative arm flows). I strongly believe that Pilates is for every body, and love the challenge of finding the “right”movement, cue, and modification for each individual.
My classes are all about having fun - expect a throwback playlist, a TV show suggestion, and at least one chaotic story. -

Group Fitness
I came across yoga while juggling the demands of my Doctorate degree in Nutrition. Through fitness and yoga, I realize it is not just about poses; it is a holistic experience that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit.

Sales + Marketing Manager
I was a client of Hive + Honey for over two years. I fell in love with the energy, the genuine people, and passion behind H + H. When it came to joining the team as the Sales + Marketing Manager, I jumped at the opportunity. I have over 12+ years experience in Retail Strategy, as well as 6+ years in Marketing and Photography. When I’m not at the studio, you can usually find me walking my golden retriever, shooting film, or running in different neighborhoods around Austin.

I found my way to Pilates over a decade ago after a knee injury. I quickly became addicted and knew becoming an instructor was my calling. I love creating a space where everyone can feel accepted.

Summer
Studio Owner + Pilates + Group Fitness
After working as a Social Worker, I realized how much I enjoy working directly with people. I began my Personal Training career in 2005 and became a Pilates instructor in 2012. I always wanted to have a studio that offered a variety of classes and thankfully, my dear friend Chrissy, was up for the challenge. Developing classes at H+H is my favorite thing to do so I can combine all the things I have learned over the years while also getting to work with people!

I'm passionate about staying fit and healthy. I've been teaching Bounce + Sculpt at H+H for 3 years. I love the uniqueness of this class, the energy, and the calorie burn! I previously taught Bar Method in San Francisco.

I have been engaged in the health and fitness arena for decades, including Step Aerobics, Spin, and Pilates. After a short break, I decided to achieve my Pilates Reformer Certification and start teaching again in 2023.
